Carey, who stands nearly 5'10" tall she was a popular American fashion model. Designers of the top calibre, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren were awestruck by her. Her father is a renowned geologist, who was awarded Scientist Of The Year 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over because of her father's work. She started modeling part time during her time attending university at the University of Colorado and caught the eye of a rep for the Ford model Agency in New York. She lived in France for a short time, including Paris and Bordeaux. Then she returned in New York for her college study and further to build her modeling career. While modeling, she also studied at New York University full-time to earn a master's degree in literature. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. The year 1986 was the year she had her first role in acting as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She is a rock climber, skiing, and windsurfing.
